Where detailing meets perfection
Diamond Detailing is a car care workshop on the Berea in Durban. We do paint correction, ceramic coating, paint protection film, window tinting and vinyl wrapping — plus straightforward detailing and mobile washing for cars that just need to be clean.
Why the lamp matters
Detailing is judged in daylight and done indoors, which is where most work falls apart. We inspect every panel under raking light at every stage, because a defect you can't see in the workshop is a defect the owner will see on the first sunny morning.
We'd rather say no
If clear coat is too thin to correct safely, or a coating won't hold on paint in the state it's in, we'll tell you before you spend the money. Turning down a job costs us once. Doing it badly costs us every time someone sees the car.
Durban-specific problems
Coastal salt, hard summer UV, tree sap on the ridge, and rain that lands warm and dries dirty. The products and intervals that work in Gauteng don't map cleanly onto KZN, and our recommendations reflect where the car actually lives.
Everything from a Polo up
Daily drivers, weekend cars, bakkies, SUVs and company fleets. A good detail is worth as much on a five-year-old hatchback as on something exotic — often more, because the improvement is bigger.
The process
Order matters more than product
Every job runs the same five stages. Skip one and the expensive part at the end can't do its job.
Inspection
The car goes under the lamp before anything else. We record paint depth, existing defects, previous respray work and anything that changes the plan — then we tell you what's realistic.
Decontamination
Wheels and arches first, then a pH-neutral wash, iron fallout remover, tar removal and a clay pass. Nothing touches a polisher until the surface is chemically and physically clean.
Correction
Machine compounding and polishing in as many stages as the paint needs and can safely take. Checked panel by panel under raking light between passes.
Protection
Coating, film or wrap goes on last, over a surface that's already right. This is the step that determines how the car looks in two years, not two weeks.
Cure and handover
Coatings cure indoors, undisturbed. You get the car back with an aftercare sheet and a standing invitation to message us with any question about looking after it.
